Dr. Anupama Sarna has been a part of Madhu Bhasha Kendra since 2008. Anupama ji taught Hindi to elementary and college students for several years in Chandigarh India. Anupama ji gained literary experience while publishing a book on the impact of Mythology in Indian Literature. The book was widely acclaimed in Indian literary circles and obtained particular accolades from top universities in India. Anupama ji also has experience in translating Hindi to English, having translated both literary books and official documents. Her philosophy in the classroom is to create an environment that stimulates students by exposing them to the cultural aspects of the Hindi-speaking world. She believes in creating a non-intimidating and encouraging atmosphere that enables students to use newly acquired language skills.
Anupama holds a Ph.D in Hindi Literature from Panjab University and a Diploma in Hindi to English Translation also from Panjab University.
Geeta Mahajan
has been teaching Hindi, Marathi, History
and Social Studies for almost forty years. Teaching is her vocation and calling.
She was the principal of a large school in Mumbai, India, where she managed a
staff of almost eighty teachers and the school had more than thirty five hundred
students. The school made several achievements in academic excellence and a 100%
passing record in the state-level examinations under her supervision. Mrs.
Mahajan also won best-teacher award for her achievements in her school. After
moving to the US to be with her sons, she has been teaching Hindi and Marathi in
the San Francisco Bay Area privately and now for the India Community Center and
Madhu Bhasha Kendra.
Mrs Geeta Mahajan has several academic qualifications including, MA (education),
MA (arts) and BA (arts). She also holds the Sahitya Ratna degree in Hindi and
also has a degree in Music.
Madhu Aggarwal is the Director and Founder of MBK Language Center. She has been teaching Hindi in the Bay Area since 1987. She is passionate about getting Hindi recognized in High Schools as foreign language. She has written 3 year Hindi curriculum for High school students, working on approval of Hindi IV, and dreams to work towards writing curriculum for AP Hindi and CSET exam for teachers (California Subject Examinations for Teachers). Madhu has played an active role in a team effort for writing National Standards for Hindi for ACTFL (American Council on Teaching of Foreign Languages).
Madhu is currently working on level I Hindi book for High School students. She has written Hindi varnmala geet published by Meera Masi Publishers, and developed puzzles and placemats, and continues to work on other fun tools for teaching and learning Hindi under Parrots Books. Madhu is also helping Tulika Books and Meera Masi publishers with translation and editing of bilingual English/Hindi books.
Manisha Jain joined MBK from January 2010. Manisha has a Masters in Indian Classical Art from Delhi. She also has a 3yrs Diploma in Indian Textiles and Clothing, and wants to do her research in Child development. She is taking a degree in Child Development and is qualified as a professional in Early Childhood Education. She has been a presenter in various schools and universities of Wisconsin Milwaukee where she talked about the Heritage of India, Art of India, Culture and several languages spoken in India. She also had been giving talks to prestigious groups like “MENSA”, introducing Indian art and Language.
In her spare time Manisha likes to write poems and short stories for children, targeting ages 4-8 yrs both in Hindi and English .She strongly believes that every child can reach his or her full potential through Scaffolding as also stated by Vygotsky and Piaget well known Child Psychologists.
Neelima Garg is a native Delhiite who has been teaching Hindi for several years in the Bay Area. Appreciating our Indian heritage, its culture and languages are of prime interest to her. She brings out the best in her students. A successful business owner she creates unique methodology to keep her students interested and focused. Currently she is working on Level I Hindi book for High School students along with Madhu Aggarwal.
Savita Garg is M.A. (Sanskrit), and B.Ed. from Meerut University, India. She has been teaching Hindi to Bay Area elementary school children since 2005 with MBK Language Center. Prior to this, she taught Hindi in Singapore where she also participated in developing Hindi language curriculum for K-12 classes.
